Great Horwood Independent/ Congregational Chapel Registers
« on: Friday 05 June 09 11:21 UTC (UK) »

Would anyone have any ideas as to what might have happened to the registers (presumably baptism only- marriages and burials weren't carried out there) of the now-closed Independent Chapel at Gt Horwood.

A check with the Bucks Archives reveal that they have the baptism register up to 1837 but are unaware of anything existant beyond that point, despite the chapel still functioning up to the late c20.

I'm assuming that either they were destroyed when the chapel closed, were kept by one of the congregation or were passed on to another United Reformed Church in the area.

Any suggestions would be welcome!
