« on: Wednesday 23 February 05 23:36 GMT (UK) »

I have been doing my family tree for nearly 2 years and I am stuck on the name Niblow.  6xG.Grandfather who was called James Niblow Born I don't know where but D.1851 in Broughton outside penrith.  He married a Elizabeth Foster in 1819 and They had a daughter called Margaret who married a John Ridley.
Does anyone out there know anything about Niblows from Penrith

Have you asked for a look up on the 1841 and 1851 census?   If he died after the census date in 1851 (3rd March) you will get his birth place.   Broughton Parish records might give his age at death if he is buried there.   Where did he marry?   Was he "of this parish"??

Hi Andrea
Yes james was from the parish Broughton and He married Elisabeth there too.  James did die in the mar quarter of march in 1851 but i don't know how old.  In the 1871 census his wife was about 73 so i think maybe that james was in his 50's, but women always seemed to be much older then their husbard in the times didn't they?

I have asked for a 1841 look-up because it might give me some sort of clue but as yet none.  I'm just at the end of trying because I have been stuck on james for neally 6 months now.

Thank for your reply thou'.  Do u live in Penrith?

No I don't live in Penrith but spend many holidays in that area as we have relatives near there.   I have driven through Broughton many times.
