Stuck on Smiths and Rogers!

Hello - I have come to a full stop, so I'm trying again to see if someone can help, please.
Need info. on Sarah Ann Rogers born Sunderland about 1847 - father William and James Smith  born Sunderland about 1843 - father Ralph.

Have you got a birth cert for James?As you probably know Smith/Rogers come by the bucket-load ( Needle and haystack spring to mind) and its nigh on impossible to find your folks without a wee bit more info.
If you had James birth cert you will find mothers name /Fathers occ and an address where they lived plus fathers age.
If you have any more info at all please post it and then we can try to find more info for you

Hello - Thanks so much for your reply.  I sent for 2 birth  certs.and they were both the wrong ones - I was hoping their respective families may show up in an 1861 census, if such a thing is available.  I don't have Sarah and James on 1871 census, only on 1881, where they now have a family of 5 Smith sons!
