Stalbridge parish registers-- SENIOR *COMPLETED*

Hi, this is my first post so I hope I do this right.
May I pls request help finding a baptism in Stalbridge c 1811 for Robert Senior, son of John, having a possible sibling Ann. There seem to have been Seniors aplenty in Stalbridge, presumably siblings or cousins.
I have Robert in census data in Gloucestershire and Monmouth, and marrying Sarah Chaplin in Devon in 1846.
A baptism gets me started in Dorset.
Any help will be a thrill.

   The IGI has entries for Robert Seniour Christened 1812 Stalbridge,.
Mary Ann 21 Dec' 1806..
Caroline 21 July 1822.......Parents John Seniour and Jane..

Possible 1841 entry for Caroline age 15 with John his age given as 55 ,Ag lab....Stalbridge

There is a submitted entry which dosn't come up in the batch...John Seniour 1815 to John and Jane Seniour..(Lemon).

1851 census Stalbridge,can't make out the address.
Samuel Francis age 37 head ag lab.
Caroline wife age 28 glover
Caroline dau' age 2
Martha dau' age 10 mths
John Seymour visitor age 68 ag lab....I wonder if this is John Senior heard wrongly...

Hi Malabar, and welcome. First a tip, there was no standard spelling in the early 19th century, so don't worry about different spellings, vicars and census takers wrote down what they heard or thought they heard. I have some Lemons in my tree around the early 19th century, but it is a tree I did not compile myself, all I know is that the main family I am researching (Luffman) were glovers, and they lived in south Somerset and north Dorset including Stalbridge. There are no Seniors in my tree. If you think I can help I will.

Thank you so much Hepburn and Redroger. I'm not sure how I didn't find the baptism on the IGI some years ago when I checked, as I have now found it at Familysearch.org. I'll follow up these leads, including alternative spellings, and come back with more questions. So far, descendants use Senior/ Sennour/ Senyour/ Signor/Senor. Now Seniour.

Dorset OPC Stalbridge clerk has a transcription of the protestation return of 1641. I noticed that there several Seniors of a variety of spellings had signed. Perhaps this is of use?

Hi,

The Stalbridge page on http://www.opcdorset.com has MIs; including 8 Seniors (1917-1964).   More details available from the OPC.

OPC also has parish records from 1700 available for look-ups; contact details on the page.
