Hi,
Has anyone heard of this Cemetery. Rothesay Rd Cemetery.
My great Uncle Patrick Flanigan died at Felixstowe Cottage Hospital at age 24 in 1938 and is buried in this cemetery. My family says it isn't a Catholic Cemetery so the family had to get special permission to bury Patrick there.
Also, they buried his brother in law , either next to him or in the same grave. He died much later . Patrick Courtney died1960's.
Does anyone live near this cemetery and or know of it. I would like to know if the cemetery is still in use and if it is maintained and if the family ever put a tombstone on Patricks Grave.

Just done a web search and I see it's the General Cemetery in Luton (Rothsay Road): information on the following site:

The contact at the cemetery might give you information on the grave, and if you get the grave number, and you post an appeal, SKS who lives in the area might help you and send a photo if you cannot visit in person.

Hopefully I will be ablt to find agrave #.
I live in NJ, USA , so yes iwill have to see if someone who lives or is going to the cemetery can check for me.

I can confirm that Rothesay Rd Cemetery is still in use, although very crowded. There are still burials today but I believe them to be into family graves already present ( I don't think there is any new ground available) I am also aware of a recent Catholic burial there. I will see if I can find out any further information for you on Patrick Flanigan/Patrick Courtney and will photograph grave if able to locate.

I thank you for replying to this post . I do know that Patrick Flanigan's grave is 2024B . I do not know if there is a stone there or not . So if you do happen to come accross the grave a pic would be fantastic .

Thanks for grave number, I have requested a plan of Rothesay Rd (will take about a week) to see if I can locate site. If there is no headstone I will photograph the site and the general view for you.
Can you please confirm the date of death as 1938 - I note your photograph caption says 1983, also I note you have Luton Leeds if that a mistake as Luton is in Bedfordshire.

My avatar picture is of my grandfather , Patrick Flanigan's older brother . Patrick was born 14 Jul 1914 and died May 1938 .
The Luton , Beds and Leeds is a mistake . At the time of the post I was just learning the area .
