Over place name - help please-complete

Ancestors lived in 'The Mosses' in Over 1851 & 1861 census.  Does anyone know where or what this was or is Huh

ps written on census as Mofses.

I don't know the area, but I wonder if this was a general area - "moss" is often a wet area of land (fs - was an old way of writing ss).
You may be able to find a more exact location using the various old maps on the Cheshire tithe maps sites - you can have side by side maps of the same place at different dates
http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/tithemaps/Default.aspx
You can search under the individual's name if you think they were in the area at the time the tithe maps were compiled, or use the township option otherwise. (Perhaps you could find who was at the place in 1841 & find them on the tithe maps).

Thank you for that, I have tried the maps before, never thought of checking for this one.  Will do it now.

I didn't read it as Mosses as in grass, I read it as 'Moses' as in bible Roll Eyes
