MI Lookups offered
« on: Friday 05 June 09 06:38 UTC (UK) »

I have accumulated quite a lot of MI's for this area - none for Dumfries itself - that I am willing to take any look up requests. All are pre 1855.

Many thanks for the kind offer.I'd like to get a Lochmaben old graveyard MI for a John Ross, farmer in Broadleydyke ,Lochmaben. His wife Margaret Carruthers is widowed in the 1841 census.Last child was born 1837.Someone gave me an MI ages ago which said he died 9th January 1842 which can't be right. Also can you kindly check Lochmaben or Applegarth for a William Jardine of Priesthead,Lochmaben who died in 1820.I'm grateful for any possible help.

Hi,

I have some relatives who originated in Closeburn, Dumfriesshire.  The surname is "McLellan" or "McClellan".  I'd be grateful if you could send transcriptions of any stones in Closeburn Churchyard which mention this surname.  Thanks.

Hi Dinarina, thanks for your offer. I am looking for the burial site of William Pattie and his wife Agnes m.s. Dickie. They had a number of children born in Mouswald from 1812  but I have not been able to trace  their movements even from 1841. Their deaths are not recorded after 1855 on Scotlands People. Your kind search may prove to be fruitless, thanking you stoop.

Unfortunately I don't have the MI's for Mouswald which is where they may be buried. I have looked through the publications that I listed but couldn't find anything.

Hi dinarina, many thanks for the offer. Any MIs in Closeburn relating to GIBSON or COOK could be helpful to me. In particular I have Robert GIBSON d. 1879, his wife Margaret COOK d. 1869 and their children David, Ann, John, Alexander, Isabella, Margaret & Thomas.

Robert's parents are Alexander GIBSON and Ann BROWN; Margaret's are John COOK and Isabella FORFAR. No dates for any of them I'm afraid , but presumably they died in the 1840s or thereabouts.

I have the marriage of ROBERT MCCALL to ISABALD MCCONNALL (aka McConner, McConnin, McKonnen!!) on 24 December 1779 in Closeburn, Dumfries, Scotland. Would you happen to have any MIs for any of these names in Closeburn?

Hello D,

I wonder if you have any mention of the following in Middlebie:
James Balfour and his wife Ellenor (Nelly) Brown

They had a couple of children in Middlebie around 1806ish and I wonder if they stayed in the area.

Many thanks.  Grin
