A cousin has asked me to help with tracing an uncle who was born and died on Malta in 1920's. His father worked in the naval dockyard but was not a naval employee as such.
She says "I was trying to find my father's brother's grave and also the place where they lived back in the 1920s. Unfortunately after a few days I came to a full stop as Dad's family were Anglican (and all Church records are Catholic) and they were'nt part of the Navy setup so there is no reference to him in the naval cemetaries in Malta. I now need to find out the date of his brother's death and birth in order to find out if he is in one of the two major cemetaries in Malta. There is no record of his brother in Malta where he was born and died.
In Malta I have already contacted the Naval Cemetaries, Public Records office in Valletta, Valletta library, Embassy and the Pro-Anglican Cathedral in Valetta. I may try the latter again but its the dates that I need. I'm also looking for a map of The Three Cities in Malta that dates back to 1920-30 as road names have changed since then and again no record of it Malta!!!!! Its as if that whole era has been wiped out."
Just to say I have found this baby and he was there all the time in the Free BMD records for England. Now I hope grave will be found. Thanks to fellow rootschatter for pointing out that the 'free records' are now available into the 1920's. So it was worth my hunch to check out England before looking at Malta.
