I am looking for anyone researching Hooper in the Brixham area.I have a gt gt grandmother Agnes Hooper-she married Samuel Jordain at Higher Brixham.  They had children in Brixham-then moved round the coast-ending up in Hull.Another two children born there-one my gt grandmother. Jeano.

Hi Jeano

Do you have a birth date for Agnes Hooper?  I have a number of Hoopers from Brixham, from late eighteenth century through several generations - they are mainly peripheral to me, but there may be some link.  Best regards.

Hello Martinait,Sorry to have not replied before.
Agnes Hooper-1818-it does in places say Plymouth-but we think more likely Brixham-her brother Robert was born 1814 in Brixham and her parents were Robert Hooper and Sally Ann Wood both born in Brixham c 1794.Sally Ann aka Sarah.
Thanks for any help you can give/suggest.

Hi Jeano

I am currently in Australia on business and so do not have all my files with me.  Brixham sounds good, and I will check when I get home in a week or and let you know.  Best regards,  Martin

Hi Jeano

Back and have looked at my details, and sadly cannot find a match.  In your earlier Robert in fact b 1792 in Churston Ferrers (a small village next to Brixham)? That would give another generation for you.  I would guess that it is the same family, and I can trace from George Hooper b in Brixham 1665 down through 12 generations and covering over 600 individuals. Let me know if any of this would be of interest,  best regards,  Martin

Hello Martin,Thank you for your reply-glad you are back safe.We lived in Brixham for a year 1968-69-and I like Churston Ferrers-so would be quite happy IF my Hoopers were from there.Robert b 1794 married Sally Anne Wood,Agnes MY ancestor was young Robert's sister-possibly baptised at Plymouthc1818(IGI).She-Agnes married Samuel Jordain in 1842 at Higher Brixham. They eventually moved to Hull.I seem stuck with them all. Thanks again,Jeano
