Guys,

My great great granda & gran were Dennis McGowan & Jane McCalister.
Dennis was born about 1808 in Down and Jane about 1812 in Down.
I do know that they were married in 1833 in Connor And Down Diocese Of Dromore, Ulster Province, Ireland.  They had quite a battalion of children I think, my great gran was Mary Ann McGowan born around 1846 and her sister Sarah was born around 1850 in Torphican which is in West Lothian, Scotland.  You will note by the years from when the married till my great gran & her sisters were born there are plenty years for other kids to be born.  Dennis & Jane I think must have come to Scotland during the potato famine around 1850.

Can anyone put some meat on the bones here please?

Since registration of births didn't start in Ireland until 1864 you'll need to search for church records (if they exist) for possible baptisms, etc.
