Hullo Trish and welcome to rootschat. Fakenham will alsmost certainly have a Library there with a Local Studies Section and you could email them and ask if they'd check out the Inquest - maybe there is a report in local papers archives also- the Lubrary would know about that. They may ask you for an exact date of death which would mean you'd have to get the death cert... 7GBP is the cost.. we can tell you how to do that if need be. re the surmane coming up in strange ways- that can be the transcriber who can't read the writing easily or it can be in the original record- quite common to get variantions especially before the 20th C.

Hi Trish
How are you getting on? I think your best bet would be the NRO and Archant. NRO is the repository for archives in Norfolk and Archant took over the local newspaper and could tell you where their older copies can be consulted. I know the Dereham copies are with the Dereham Antiquarian Society but I don't know if the Fakenham ones are still in the town.
Good luck.
Teddy
