Hi, I'm looking for "Richard Ryder Lewis" I dint know anything about him apart from he married my dad's aunt (Alice Jane Durward) on 18/4/1919 in Vancouver . He died on 27th Dec 1925 ...age 63 , in Victoria. Alice was a good bit younger than Richard the year after his death she emigrated to Australia to be with her sisters .(she died 1947)
I'm wondering if he was Canadian ? or Scottish (but over in Canada )....had he been in the army when younger ? or even had he been married before ? ooh! lots of questions ,but can find no answers
back to the grind i suppose , Snowolf

If no one at RootsChat is able to do a look-up of the death registration for you then you should try the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness website (http://www.raogk.org/) as they have a number of volunteers who do vital records look-ups of BMD events that are listed in the British Columbia Archives' database.

I picked up the marriage record for Richard Ryder Lewis to Alice Jane Durward at Victoria in 1919. Unfortunately the image in microfilm is so faint the printout is not legible. I copied out as best I could what the record says. I also got the death record for Richard Ryder Lewis in 1925 at Victoria.
If you wish copies send me a PM with your email address.
John

Marriages March Q. 1860 Lewis,Richard and Ryder, Jane / Machynlleth / vol. 11b p. 291
I imagine the births may have been in Machynlleth as well, but middle names must have been established at Christenings..

Hmmmm...He may have been this person at signup, ( as Ryder Lewis) making himself younger so as to make the age req'ment. Most of the information seems to be correct...He'd already been in the Canadian Army Service Corps http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-119.01-e.php?&id_nbr=527720 You can get an idea of his staure from the second sheet...also he had a mitral systolic murmer & hypertrophy but not sure if second one refers to heart as well, or muscle bulk...
Don't see a BMD birth for a Ryder Lewis, so looking more likely to be your man...He was living in Victoria, born Llansantffraid, Montgomeryshire, father Richard.
A bookkeeper just had to be good at math...Know how to balance the books and such... ( not accountants ) My mom didn't finish high school because she needed to work for her father in his store...but she learned how to do his books and was good at math...and became a bookkeeper.
