Hi
After searching for my g,g,g grandparents, I've recently found that they had a daughter called Laura Serjeant.
Their names were Ebenezer Serjeant (1826 Ipswich, Suffolk) and Angelina (1829 Bury, Suffolk). They lived in Ipswich, Suffolk all their lives and this is the first time that I've noticed that they had a daughter called Laura born about 1858, but is she their daughter??
In the 1871 census all the family are recorded as being born in Ipswich, but Laura is recorded as being born in Colchester, Essex. 10 years later in the 1881 census she is in the East Suffolk Hospital as a patient, but her place of birth is Ipswich.
In the 1861 census (she would have been 3 years) she is not there with Ebenezer and Angelina, but her brothers and sisters are.
I am very confused as to who she is and why she is not with Ebenezer and Angelina in 1861, also why her birth place is Colchester, Essex. These are the only 2 census returns that I can find for her. The surname Serjeant is also spelt Sergeant/Sergant.
If anyone could help shed some light on Laura, this would be much appreciated.

Hi and thank you for your reply,
Elizabeth was Ebenezer's second wife. Angelina died in 1863. I was just presuming that Laura was Ebenezer and Angelina's daughter, but maybe she was Elizabeth's daughter from a previous relationship. I know that Elizabeth's maiden name was Worth and I think she was born in Ipswich about 1833.

Hi again Pam, thanks for your reply.
I've just found Elizabeth Worth in the 1861 census. It says her birthplace is...... Colchester, Essex! But, Elizabeth is living as a servant and there is no Laura with her. Very confusing.

Hi Pam,
I don't have many details for Elizabeth except for her maiden name and date of birth.
I couldn't find anything for Laura either and can't understand how she isn't living with Elizabeth in 1861, but 10 years later she is.
It's very confusing, but thank you for helping
