Please would some kind person with access to the original registers do a look up for me? I don't even know if this is possible — are they accessible?
I am trying to find out who was the father of my GGG Grandmother CAROLINE CARVETH. I know she married KENNETH (it should have been Kennett) BANKS on 1 july 1821 in St Austell; witnesses Margaret Carveth and Anna Carveth.
Did the records have father's names back then? It would help me heaps to know who he was. I know her grandfather was Richard b 1748 as he mentioned her in his will, but which of his sons was her father is a mystery. So, for that matter, is her date of birth (maybe 1800?) but that's another story.....
Many thanks for your time and trouble, Rian.

Hi Rian,
Unfortunately fathers were not listed at marriage until after civil registration commenced Sep 1/4 1837.
Cheers Kris

There is a Kitty CARVETH baptised 1 Jul 1802 Gorran parents William and Catherine.
William CARVETH = Catherine HUDDY 20 Feb 1800 Corran.
unfortunately I suspect his father was Eusebius not Richard
Are the marriage witnesses helpful?
Kris

Thank you Kris. At least I know now. The witnesses were most likely her cousins. I had the same thought as you about Kitty, but she is not from the same line. Her grandfather was indeed Eusibius. I'll start a new thread and see if anyone can find Caroline's dob. I'm presuming that her father will be listed on this, if it can be found. Thanks again, Rian.

Thank you Swebby. That last one is new to me. There are SO many Carveths — and still more to be found! Maybe one day I'll get them all sorted out. Thanks for helping, Rian.
