Hi All
I have found 3 documents at The Cape Town Repository that concern my G-G-Grandmother.  One a death notice and the other two are Liquidation and Distribution Accounts.  Why would there be two references regarding this document?... the only difference I can see is that one is referenced as 155 and the next 156.  Would this be a mistake or mean that the document is split into two parts  Huh  I am not experienced in SA research.  The reason I ask is that I don't want to order two copies of the same file but then again don't want to miss any vital information.

Hi Deb,

Here's some of the information for you.

Emily Bertha Steel, birthplace Yorkshire England. Parents are just listed as Paddon

Age of deceased is 63 years and a widow

Name and approximate date of death of spouse: William Francis Steel died England in the year 1886.

The day of decease: 20 day of September 1903

Place of death was 3 St Mary's Terrace Port Elizabeth

Names of the Children are: Robert  Samuel Steel snd Benjamin Frederick Steel both Majors

Moveable property and a will was left and the death notice was signed in Port Elizabeth on the
22 Sept 1903 by Robert S Steel son of the deceased.

The Liquidation and Dist account is quite thick and the two have a lot of accounts etc in them.

Thank you so much Ouma! There are a few mistakes in the detail which I guess is normal for death information... but it looks like one of the brothers that I have been searching for (and his descendants) may have already died before his mother.... this is news to me...

Thank you for letting me know what was in the liquidation/distribution files.  I really appreciate you going and looking for me that is just awesome that you did that for me Smiley

I wonder how much it will cost to copy all of that lol  Shocked

Had to look up info for myself which came to nothing but we keep on trying!

Next time I go I'll try to find out, the cost that is,  unfortunately no cameras are allowed anymore  Sad

I was reading something the other day and it may or may not be of use to you. It was under

Bailey, Sir Abe (Abraham)1st Baronet (12/2/1919) of Cradock born Cradock 11/11/1864 died

Muizenburg 10/8/1940 Son of Thomas Bailey of Queenstown and Ann Drummond. Rand Magnate and

Politican  married 1894 CATHARINA M PADDON  Smiley (maybe a relative on your Paddon side?) died 1902.

He then remarried 1911 Hon Mary Westenra daughter of 5th Baron Rossmore and they had 5 children

All these places are in South Africa

I'll still try to find out about the cost hopefully this week

Thank you for that Ouma! I do not know of any other Paddon relatives that went to SA but I will certainly pass it on to another lady who is a distant relative who is researching the Paddon's this will be of interest I'm sure! Thanks again for remembering me Smiley
