Hi,

I have traced (possibly) a relative in 1901 to the Industrial School in Bristol (Park Row) but would like to verify that he is the 'right'one.

Does anyone know where I can obtain records of this entry as I presume he would have been sent there by a court or something similar.

He was born in Charlton Kings but it may have been a Cheltenham court that sent him there.

I have read on the web that to obtain more, one should contact the area that he came from and not where he ended up.

I would be very grateful for a pointer in the right direction.

I think there are some records of Park Row Industrial School at Bristol Record Office. I am going there tomorrow so can check for you if you le me know his name & any other details you have.

Hi Nashua,

That is very kind of you, I appreciate your help.

My husband's grandfather's name was William John  Powell born Charlton Kings,  December 1887.  His father's name was William but not sure if it was Wm. John or Wm. Samuel (therein lies some confusion).  I cannot find any other William Powell with the right age and birthplace for the 1891 or 1901 censuses.  This is the only one.

His birth cert gives his parents as William and Alice.

Having researched the wrong William Powell back to 1730, I want to make sure I have the right one this time.
