I've tried all these contacts but had no replies - the one asking about CSM is obviously a close relative but the posting is 5 years old and he has probably stopped following it and has changed email address. i don't know where to go next -any ideas? It would seem as though he must have stayed in the Ontario region.

I just sent him an email & it never returned... so he is just not reading them...maybe he has put it over to his spam folder & never checks it for real mail....
Was your second wife to his father surname Geddes or McCracken?
Married to Dec.Q 1914 McCracken Elizabeth /McNair / W.Derby 8b 836
What if you tried phoning that CS McNair, just in case. Shouldn't cost too much if you keep it brief...

also writing a well circulated newspaper would be an option as well...of course the submission costs money, but it has worked for many people...

my grandfather's second wife's surname was McCracken - her mother was elizabeth Geddes and Charlie's( the one we're chasing) sister was elizabeth geddes mcnair so probably someone slipped up with the name at some point.
Thanks very much for the address and telephone number - I'll have a go.

yes -that was me - replying quickly without thinking - but in his post he mentioned Elizabeth Geddes that's why I slipped up - I realised what I'd done afterwards but never altered it. Done it now.

I tried phoning that number - the R McNair I got to have a pleasant chat with was not the right one- he doesnt know the name.

Igot him, I gothim I got him!!! You wonderful people! I phoned the number and he is Charlie's son, and so is the other one, who is not in Ontario but way out west. I'm so excited I can't sleep! we've exchanged details and will follow it up from there. Thank you more than I can say!!! Phyl
