Philip Willis
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 21:31 UTC (UK) »

Smiley Hi again all you good folks,

I am having problems trying to track down my grandfather's family, his name was Philip Willis married to Selina Alice Terry 29th August 1920. On the marriage certificate, it states his father was a James Willis (Blacksmith Striker) and living at Upper Highgate Street, Birmingham. Philip was born in 1900, the one 1901 census i can find shows father James and mother Kate... with a couple of siblings, but i honestly don't know if this is the correct census. I cannot get a birth certificate for Philip as i don't know his  birth date. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Huh

Hi

There is a birth of a Philip Willis in Aston-Warwickshire in 1899...Would be worth sending for a birth cert to see if he is your guy

Hi Sunriseuk

Thats the risk we occasionally have to take to find our rellies Wink..and even if it is the wrong one its not money totally wasted as you then know not to follow that line.

You could order the cert and specify that you only want it if father is James and if it isnt you only have to pay £3.50 for the search.

The Philip Willis birth I found is the only one in the time frame b Aston-Warwickshire and Aston is the Reg District for Birmingham.

You know from his marriage cert he was b abt 1900 and that his father was James so I think its a very strong possible he is your guy.

Did Philip have any siblings you know of ?

There may be further info on the 1911 cencus but you need to buy credits to access the details

Good Luck
