Trying to locate info on Emma Bell ne:Abbott (plus or minus the odd b or t). Married my GT grandfather George T Bell of Bolton Lancs in 1910 at Duncan British Columbia. He died in 1915 in Salusbury England from menengitis in the Royal Canadian Dragoons, the CWGC commission certificate states he had a wife living in Acton Middlesex London. As this was probably written after the war I guess she travelled back to England at some point. Any ideas out there?

Do you know when and where Emma was born?
Have you ordered a copy of George's military file? Here's a link to his attestation papers at Library and Archives Canada:

There are instructions on how to order it. The cost depends on how many pages are in the file.
There is a possibility that information about his widow's whereabout may be included. My grandfather's WWI file had a Notice of Death in his name but it was dated 1974. We were confused about that since my grandfather died in 1948 in a different city than what was listed. Then we realized it was a death notice regarding my grandmother even though her name was no where on the form.

An Emma Bell arrived in the UK in 1915 according to the database UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 . I won't know further details until I check it out at my library.

Emma Bell, 28, last permanent address: Canada, country of intended future residence: England. There is an address listed with the entry: 19 Fletcher Road, Acton Green. She appears to have been travelling alone.

Hi Tazette,
Emma only returned to England in 1915 so the 1911 will not help. Thanks anyway. I have tried the address in Acton on google earth and I have found a death in 1927 which may tally.
