Hello osprey, thank you for answering my request. I am still confused. Are you saying that sarah age 42 who lived with the abraham in 1871 age 75 were married? I have found her living with abraham in these two censuses, but he was much younger than the one stated in 1871, this is how I became confused at the start, unless of course the enumerator wrote his age incorrectly.
1851 HO107/2494 Folio 206 Page 10 Abraham Powell 27 Sarah Powell 25 Abraham Powell 6 Elizabeth Powell 4 Mary Powell 2 William Powell 9 Mo Jonathan Weale 26
1861 RG9/4238 Folio 68 Page 8 Abraham Powell 37 Sarah Powell 35 Abraham Powell 16 Mary Powell 13 John Powell 9 Emma Powell 6 Alice Powell 4 William H Powell 1 Jane Bowen 60 lodger, char woman Jonathan Weale 36 lodger carpenter journeyman Thomas Weale 46 brother shoemaker journeyman

ok, I'm confused as well now. I transcribed the 1871 census and on that, Sarah was enumerated as Abraham's wife. I'll have another search.

well, it looks like there was more than one Abraham Powell married to a Sarah 1851 Llyswen, Trawscoed HO107/2494 folio 209 pg 17 Abraham Powell head mar 55 farmer of 35 acres b. Llanyre Mary wife 52 b. Brecs, Llandinam Margaret Powell sister-in-law widow 72 pauper formerly farmer b. Brecs, Llanavan(?) William Weale 7 pauper b. Llanyre
there are definitely 2 separate farming families headed by an Abraham Powell. One at Wain, Abbey Cwmhir with many acres and several generations of Abraham - they had another son Abraham after one died in 1876.
And then there's the family of Abraham the shoemaker who don't have a son called Richard David on the 1871 census and aren't at Llyswen, either
1871 Sun Inn, Newbridge on Wye, Trawscoed RG10/5600 folio 63 pg 15 Abraham Powell head mar 47 shoemaker Sarah wife 45 Elizabeth dau 24 John son 19 Emma dau 16 Alice dau 14 William Henry son 12 Penry son 8 Hariet Laura dau 2 Thomas Lloyd 25 shoemaker b. Colwin all born Llanyre except where stated
there was another Abraham Powell death reg which probably accounts for the shoemaker Abraham Powell 53 march qtr 1877 Rhayader 11b pg 124
This family is still in the Sun Inn in 1881 with Sarah as the innkeeper, no son called Abraham, no son called Richard. It's the page before the other Sarah with son Richard.
1901 334 Brithweunydd Rd, Llwynypia RG13/5018 folio 74 pg 45 David R Powell 30 boarder milk vendor b. Radnorshire, Newbridge
think you need Richard David Powell's birth or marriage certificate to confirm father's occupation, but suspect it was the correct family I gave you in my first post.
