Hi, Im trying to trace the Baker side to my family tree and would be greatful if anyone could help.
My ggg grandfather was Watkin Baker b. abt 1849 Castleton Glamorgan, as it says on the census.
1871 32 Pentreguinea Road, St Thomas, Swansea, Glamorgan Wakin Baker, h, 22, Railway Guard, b Castleton/Castletown Glamorgan Phoebe Baker, w, 21, Pembrokeshire Solva Margaret Ann Baker, d, 3, scholar, Pembrokeshire Solva William John Baker, s, 2, Pentreguinea Glam Watkin Edward Baker, s, 3months, Pentreguinea Glam
I can locate these after this date but as of yet have been unable to trace these people further back in the census's. Watkin Baker's birthplace seems to be Castleton which I found came under Newport at the time and I would not have thought it to come under Glamorgan. He does not appear on any census after 1871 and his wife Phoebe re-marries. I did find a death for Watkin Baker in Newport, Monmouth, sep q 1880 which would tie up to him, explaining why he would not show on later census.
I have his marriage cert to Phoebe Evans from 1867 and it states his father was also Watkin.
Any help in tracing him back further would be much appreciated, as I have had no luck in doing so, so far.
Thanks
pedro

Thanks Laurina that's awsum!
much appreciated. I had struggled very much to find any previous census to the ones I have. The Bicker could be the reason, I did come across a similar thing with another family name, it was transcribed as Maltos but should have been Matty.
Thanks again, wouldn't have found them without your help.
