This man's oldest son, David, was the only child not to emigrate to Australia. Charles and his wife Luct (nee Coward) and eight children, emigrated to Australia aboard 'Emigrant' arriving 08 June 1849. I am interested in contacting anyone who may be researching this family or their descendants.
Also would like to know which rootsweb list covers the Maitland, NSW area? Regards Jan Moon

Hi Jan,
This is RootsChat not rootsweb - We have no connection with rootsweb are unable to make any recommendations re other lists. If you have any questions we suggest you post them here on RootsChat's Australian Board. We will do our best to help you.
All the best in finding descendants.
Cheers Kris

Hi Jan, I live in Maitland and I have been able to find that Charles Hain died 7 April 1879, aged 75 years. He is buried in the Methodist section of the Morpeth Cemetery. Lucy died 5 June 1871 and is buried Methodist section of the Morpeth Cemetery. According to the Maitland City Council Cemetery Register that I have on CD, there are 9 other Hain's and most are buried in the Methodist Section of the East Maitland Cemetery. Where are you from and would you like a photo of the headstones if I can get out there?
Hope this helps Chrissy7

Chrissy Thank you. I would love anything. it's amazing that I had been looking for these people for so long and they'd come to Australia - here I was thinking they'd gone to somewhere else in UK or anywhere except Australia. The funny thing is that I don't think that descendants of the child, David, that stayed in Dorset, kept in touch with the family that went to Oz. Not much of the family stayed in Dorset though. Regards jan Moon
