Lord Raglan Homes
« on: Tuesday 09 June 09 07:04 UTC (UK) »

When researching that my great grandfather was taken into the care of the wandsworth Guardians in 1904 I discovered his father died in 'Tooting, Lord Raglan Home, Slades Green'.  Is this a home for the poor and are there any surviving records?

Hi Gemma

I don't know of any homes being named after Lord Raglan. I don't think he was known as a benefactor. Mostly it is pubs which bear his name (including one in Slade Green). If there was a Lord Raglan home then the London Metropolitan Archives would be the starting point to enquire about it further.

Regards

thank you. I have discovered that Tooting Home and Lord Raglan  are 2 different things. The Lord Raglan is a pub where one relative lived and Tooting Home was an invalid home.  The full stopp wasnt readable.  Thank you for getting back to me though.
