« on: Tuesday 09 June 09 10:15 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

I have just received the death cert of my Grt Grandmother Jane Hannah Smith, she died 1942 & the address on the cert was 26 Shelford Road, South Yardley, Birmingham.  I would now like to find out where she was buried, could someone please help me.......would anyone know which churches etc would be near there or any ideas as to where I should go from here ??

Thank you

Hi Jan,

I would guess that, as the death was so late, she would be in a cemetery. I would suggest that you try Yardley Cemetery, which is in South Yardley. The can be contacted via email.

The have been kind enough to do some searched for me, free of charge, in the past, so it may be a good idea to send them over an email.

Hi, Thanks for that, I emailed them & had a reply this morning.  She was buried in Yardley Cemetery !!!

The email said that she was buried on 2nd January 1943 aged 74yrs old & that the grave was purchased for 3 burials but Jane Hannah was the only one interred in the grave (that is odd!!) & says that there isnt a memorial recorded in the register......would that mean that there isnt a grave stone on her grave ??

They sent me a map of the cemetery & said that she is buried in grave 64234 section 46.

If anyone lives near the cemetery I would love to see where she is buried......I live in South Wales & have no chance to go & see her grave!!!

Thank you for your help
