Dear Members,

After 1871 it seems Helen Maria Irving nee Mitchell dropped of the radar.

She was born 1842 Falmouth, Cornwall.
She married Peter Wells Irving in 1861 at Romney Marsh, Kent.
In 1871 she was with family at Deptford with husband & 3 kids.

Peter Wells Irving died 1878 at Greenwich

I would like to know when and where she died please.

Where were the 1871 kids in 1881?
Or even: Who were they (name,date, birthplace)

Hi just found the family on the 1871 census at Greenwich, Deptford

Peter W Irving  aged 35  cant read his occupation but he was born Chatham, Kent
Helen M                       28 was  born Falmouth,
Charles   aged 9   was born in  Peckham, Surrey
Henry               7                          "               "
The Mother in law is living with them she is Helens Mum
Elizabeth R Mitchell aged 60  Naval pensioner and she was born Woolwich
They also have a daughter called Phoebe Evans  aged 21  who
is domestic servant   born in   Deptford but doesnt say whose daughter she is.So
presume she is Elizabeths

Havent had time to find her death yet but this might clear things up for others who might want to search for Helens death

There is a marriage for a Helen Maria IRVING June quarter 1886 in the St Saviour registration district ref. 1d 119 and one of the matching spouses is an Edward William BRUCE.  Perhaps she lopped a few years off her age for the census due to her husband being somewhat younger if it is the correct person?  It is the only mention that I can see of any Helen Maria IRVING in the GRO birth, marriage, death indexes.
