Researching the Bower family of Wurtemberg, Germany who were pig dealers/pork butchers in 1881 +91 censuses. Are these the originators of the well known butchers, George Bower in Raeburn St. Stockbridge ?

There was Frederick Bower, born c.1854 and John Henry Bower c. 1851. Any info. at all would be welcome. In 1881 Frederick was in Whites Place, Edinburgh; and in 1891 Frederick and John Henry were at 11 + 12 Tynecastle Place, respectively.

For those interested.  In 1881 at 9 Whites Place Edinburgh

Fredrick Bower 26 b. Germany (Pigs Dealer Butcher)
Paulina Bower 28 b. Germany
John Bower 12 b. North America (son)
Rosa Bower 10 b. North America (dau)
Maria L Bower 01 b. England      (dau)

I'm reading the LDS transcription, so either at least the eldest boy is a stepson or the age is wrong.

The butchers have a website at: http://www.georgebowerbutchers.co.uk/

This however doesn't give any historical info, and Googling implies that a family by the name of White have owned the business for some years.

On SP there are 4 Bower wills between 1850 to 1901. 2 Edinburgh ones.  William 15/03/1988 and a George 13/06/1860.  Shall leave this thread to someone more local.
