Who are James & Thomas ?
« on: Wednesday 10 June 09 09:54 UTC (UK) »

James Holman (& Jennifer unknown)   had these children in Kenwyn

1. ABIGAL HOLMAN -  06 FEB 1803
2. JAMES HOLMAN -  22 MAR 1801
3. MARY HOLMAN -  09 MAY 1808
4. CATHERINE HOLMAN -  17 FEB 1797
5. JENEFER HOLMAN -  14 APR 1799
6. JOHN HOLMAN -  22 MAR 1795
7. BETSEY HOLMAN -  24 MAR 1806

Thomas Holman & Susanna Williams had these children in Kenwyn

1. SUSANNA HOLMAN -  06 JAN 1799
2. CATHERINE HOLMAN - 28 JUN 1795
3. JENNEFER HOLMAN -  06 JAN 1793
4. WILLIAM HOLMAN - : 16 MAY 1802

what i am trying to do is link Thomas and James to my family who were in Kenwyn (& Kea) at the same time - of course there may be no connection .

My Family

Thomas Holman and Mary nee Johns had these children in Kenwyn

THOMAS HOLMAN -  06 DEC 1811 m. Agnes Nelder
JOHN HOLMAN -  06 NOV 1808 m. Amelia Pascoe
ELIZA HOLMAN  06 JUN 1805
WILLIAM HOLMAN -  21 MAR 1802 m. Elizabeth Skewes
ANN HOLMAN -  23 MAR 1806

my Thomas was bp. 21.09.1765 s/o Thomas & Constance nee Lukes (pronounced Lucas)
Thomas jnr had a sister Elizabeth bp. 17.02.1769

also in Kenwyn / Kea area was my Thomas cousins
William 1762 m. Lucy Brewer
(children John 1790, Elizabeth 1791 & William 1793)
Thomas 1770 m. Mary Penrose
(children Betsey 1792, Eliza 1793, Mary 1795, Thomas 1797-1802, Sophia 1799) (Thomas 1770 and what appears to be daughter Eliza 1793 appear on 1841 census)
Elizabeth 1784- she never married
al children of John and Elizabeth nee Pengelly
as you can see there are large gaps in between these children

of course its confusing when you have more than one person with the same name and in my case more than one set of Thomas & Mary the only thing i used to differentiate between Thomas & Mary Penrose and Thomas and Mary Johns was the marriage date
Thomas m. Mary Penrose on 04.02.1792
Thomas m. Mary Johns on 26.01.1799 (at St Gulivas what i believe to be Marys home parish)
therefore i have attributed children before 1799 to Thomas and Mary Penrose and after that date to Thomas and Mary Johns especially where they were survivng and had the same forename

Thomas and Mary Johns is my direct line

i have their son John (my 2xgt grandfather) immigration record for when he mined in South America which cearly states his mother to be Mary nee Johns

'cousin' Thomas and Mary nee Penrose is a different matter
as Thomas was bp. 1770 there is nothing stopping it from being him marrying Susanna Williams in 1791 in Kenwyn
which just adds to the confusion.
