Ref other thread - Charles Henry was in Wales in 1901 - that seems to be the only source of his PoB - Croydon, Surrey .... no Birth Index entry that I can find .....

It is possible that Charles made up a father for his marriage cert.
So I would forget Frederick for a bit and concentrate just on Charles pre 1900.

But it is strange we can find no earlier references to Charles in 1881 / 1891 at present. It is possible that he was registered and brought up with a differnet surname for some reason.
Either Frederick was his 'real' father and he then took his name when he was grown up. Or maybe Fred was a step dad and, likewise, Charles took his surname when he was older.

I take it the marriage was in Wales too.

I dont know that there is a lot to be gained by just repeating the same facts.

We have already establishes that there is no birth in that name, nor can we find Charles in earlier censuses, and suggestions have been made as to possible scenarios that could suggest.

So you are going to have to think of any different angles that can be pursued. Here are some ideas, which may or may not be suitable -
What occupation did Charles have? is that something that required an apprenticeship, if so can any records be found? When Charles died did he leave a will - if so did it mention any wider family?  Where does Florence originate from - where was she before marriage - could that indicate that he met her other than on Wales? What Charles Henry's were born in Croydon aorund 1872? can you follow each of them until 1901 and therefore eliminate them, maybe ending up with one who maybe becomes a Lovett?

When there isnt anything obvious then it takes lots of imagination, lots of detective work and  lots of time. Answers dont just frop in to your lap. Sometimes, several years later, you are still no further forward. But just sometimes something comes up and wow that is so good when the mystery is solved!

I hope that happens for you with this one.  Grin

Hi lizdb
Thanks for your reply.  I have Charles Henry Lovett and wife florence on the 1901 census in Pontypridd I know they had a son Charles Thomas born 1900 he died in 1953 in Pontypridd , I have death cert and another son Walter Gerald born in 1902 . Florence remarried a John Daniels in
1914 in Pontypridd and they had a daughter Alice. I can find other branches of family in the 1911 census but cant find one of these Lovetts . Regards

Charles Henry Lovett m. Florence in 1900
children in 1901, and 1902
Florence remarries in 1914 (on freebmd as to "John Daniel")

But where is Charles' death?

In 1911 Florence appears to be possibly listed as Florence E. A. Daniel, along with John and a daughter Alice May, in Pontypridd.  I would suggest you purchase the details from this census to see if Charles junior and Walter are still around (perhaps under some variation of the names?)
