McLauchlan - mostly Ayrshire, I think!
« on: Sunday 04 February 07 14:36 UTC (UK) »

Hi
Starting most recently I have James McLauchlan b 22 june 1907 probably born in Sorn, Ayrshire, died dec 1961, tarbolton.
His father: John Hughes McLauchlan b 31 may 1882 - where? was it Annbank???
he married Ellen Alexander - know lots about her and 10 generations back on her! John Hughes McLauchlan died 27 april 1952, Tarbolton.
his parents: James McLauchlan, don't have any dates for him, except he married Margaret Ross who had died before John Hughes got married 8 march 1907 in Tarbolton.
It is known that James remarried, but no details on this at all.

Do any of you know anything about John Hughes birthplace, or anything at all about his parents please?
Tarbolton/Annbank/ Sorn etc are most likely places. Coal mining families. Can't trace them on LDS Scotlands People or GR.

If anyone has a lead, I would be most greatful.
Thank you

My McLAUCHLANs came from Perthshire and were people of the land and therefore moved around different areas of Perthshire such as Coupar Angus,
Dunkeld, Kilspindie, Hillyland, Cargill, Moncrieff Island etc.
Some came to New Zealand.

Hi
My McLauchlan's were all miners.
I've done lots more work on this line now, so I'm going to close it down.
Thanks for your interest.
