CD ROM (Read Only Memory) drive?

It sounds like the games CDs are corrupt.

I often find that washing a CD in warm water with a little washing-up liquid can work wonders with old discs  Smiley

If the machine is running under Vista it could be linked to the Autorun problem which I experienced - see This Thread.

Hopefully Microsoft won't take too long to fix it.

windows XP, ok the old cds could be corrupt but she tried a brand new one. They aslo open fine in her sisters laptop (vista). Have tried the soap trick too - no go on that either.

Is the problem linked to CD/DVD, high content discs can be on dual layer DVD discs and the ROM device might be only CD 700MB type. That said I would imagine any new PC to contain DVD dual layer type ROM device.
