I am looking for details of an Eliza Mitchell born around 1813 in Sussex - she was my Gt Gt Gt Grandmother - all I know is (or think!) she was the second wife of Daniel McDonald.
She and Daniel had two daughters Eliza Katherine McDonald baptised in St Pancras in 1836 and Matilda Rebecca McDonald born in 1839 also in St Pancras.
I would like to find out who her parents were, so I can go back another generation and when and where she married Daniel McDonald. I can't find a marriage or details of the death of his first wife Elizabeth
Any help greatly appreciated.

Have checked the Sussex Marriage Index which covers up to 1837 - but no Mitchell / McDonald marriage I am afraid.
The odds are that she did not marry in Sussex.
Most women in that time period went home to have their first child, and as you know her daughters were baptised in St Pancras - would suggest you post this query on the London boards.
Sorry I cant help any further

Thanks, can you find any baptisms for an Eliza Mitchell - my problem is the census reports don't list where abouts from Sussex she was from. The census reports just say Sussex so I can't go back a generation.
I had thought she might have been Elizabeth Mitchell but on Eliza Katharines baptism it definitely calls her Eliza.
I guess it may be possible they never married, especially as I can't find a death for his first wife, also called Elizabeth/Eliza

I had a quick look on the Sussex Family History Group baptism database and unfortunately there are at least 10 Eliza Mitchell's born 1812 to 1815 in Sussex so it needs a bit more detail.
A marriage certificate if after 1837 would give her father's name or a birth certificate for a child maybe?

Thanks, unfortunately the first child was born in 1836 so mariage would have been before 1837. Can't locate a marriage at all which is very frustrating.

This is the only one that appears for Eliza. There are a few for Elizabeth
Eliza Mitchell
14 Feb 1813, Cowfold, Sussex – parents James Mitchell and Elizabeth
It appears there are no other siblings. Which other ones do you have listed for Eliza as I can't locate them at all.
