Deaths at sea/who to ask
« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 09:37 UTC (UK) »

My grandfather's brother died at sea in 1920, while on the same boat as his father, who was Master of the ship. They were both from Glynn, near Larne, Antrim.
Would the GRO in Northern Ireland hold the record of his death, if not, who should I ask.
Thank you,
Brian

If the death appears in the normal civil index you should be able to find it here:
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347
If you do find it there will be the details needed to order the death certificate- name, year/quarter, age (as given on death certificate), registration district, volume and page numbers.
See here about ordering N.I. certificates:

Helena,
I came across the web-site a couple of months ago, and have been able to purchase copies of their CR10 Cards for both my grandfather John Todd and his brother James.
Thanks,
Brian
