Maesteg Cemetery - Transcription?
« on: Friday 12 June 09 05:32 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone have or know of a transcription of the Maesteg cemetery?  My grandparents,  Thomas and Ceridwen JAMES are buried in Plot # C-T-1634, along with an infant son and Ceridwen's brother, Paul THOMAS.  One son, George Garfield JAMES (wife Lillian) is also buried in that cemetery (I don't know the plot number).  I'm hoping to find others Silas John JAMES, born 1900 (wife Dilys OWEN) and perhaps Thomas Idris THOMAS (born 1906).

If I get a few minutes on the weekend, I'll pop up there. Not exactly sure where C-T is though? Were they catholic by any chance?

Hi Gwen, the cemetery is very big, was first opened in 1884. The Computerised set-up was
first started 1997, for me to get more information on the other deceased family members,
i would need to know the dates of the departed, which is something you probably have,nt
got.   I am doing some detective work in the Caerau area. Let me know if you need my E-mail address.     Regards   SAM

I don't have death dates for Silas John, wife Dilys or any children, nor for Thomas Idris.  They may even have left the area.   If a transcription exists I thought I could troll through that.  I have got all the back history for these people but lose the trail after 1929.  Thank you very much for your offer but it looks like I will just have to wait for further census though.

Get in touch with the burials officer at Bridgend county borough council, who will send you details
