does anyone have info on the muirheads from addiewell westcalder ?

Hi i have been doing my family tree and i would like to know if anyone knows anything about my great great gran Annie Muirhead  her parents names were  Benjiman Muirhead and Minnie nee Allan Benjiman worked at limestone coal mines they also had a son called william ...

as far as i have found out they lived at  longlea westcalder  and william lived at clyde street ...  Grin

Minnie,s parents were called William Allan and Janet Somerville

Finally my great great gran Annie married a man called joseph colletta also from west calder father Giovanni and mum Clementina   Burdona they married in 1903 and then she married my g /g/  grandpa john hendry young  i would love to hear from anyone who knows of the family .. or is connected .. or knows anything about them ...Pammy xx

can you tell us what you have so far census wise ?

the IGI(FAMILY SEARCH) has benjamin muirhead marriage to whilminnel(?) allan
31st dec 1872 polmont stirling
first son -
james muirhead born 5th sept 1873 carnwath lanark parents benjamin muirhead and wilhelmina allan

they are at parkhall mid calder edinburgh in 1881 but perhaps you have this
already
have you managed to trace their parents on the census ?

sorry for all the questions but we don't want to duplicate what you already have

Hi again no i dont have that on them ... i have that they lived in west calder .. done the census check on Scotland's people  got that Benjiman was roughly born about 1852 but dont know when or where ... i know minnie his wife was an Allan cause i got her death certificate her parents were  William Allan and Janet Somerville ..

from a census check done in 1891 i got that Benjiman lived Kirk Newton East Calder  with Minnie and his kids Jessie  born in Polmont .William , Rachel  Benjiman , ? and ? Annie  and John ..

I am still looking .. x

the IGI has-
williamina allan baptised 31st oct 1851 polmont stirling
parents william allan and janet sommerville

this seems to match what was on minnie's death cert.

the 1881 census is from a set of CD's i have for scotland
IGI has
william allan married janet somerville 22nd oct 1850 polmont stirling(IGI)

Hi Pammy

The 1873 marriage register digitised image for the couple, in Polmont, just outside Edinburgh, available for a few bawbees at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk does indeed show the bride as Whilminnie, most probable full name Whilminnie R ALLAN !

But remember that this index entry is based on the registrar's transcription of how the bride signed her name on the marriage schedule.

In other words I'd suspect that the registrar in question, J G GLEN, was having a 'bad day', and mistranscribed Williamina !
