Hi, I am looking for the marriage of Ezekiel Hotchkin to Margaret Turton possibly in June 1834. In the 1841 and 1851 census they live in Sutton St Edmunds, Lincolnshire. Ezekiel is listed as being born in Holbeach in 1805 and Margaret in Sutton St Mary in 1816. Any information on their marriage and parents names would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Susan

Thankyou so much. I'm sure all these are in the family I have been researching. I thought I had tried every spelling but obviously missed these. Now that I have these records I'm hoping I can find the parents of Ezekiel and Margaret.
Thanks, Susan

Hi Susan
I have checked the IGI and also the Vital Records Index which I have on CD but there is no entry for either of them
The 1841 census also shows a son John aged 3
In 1851 they have one additional child - Sarah Ann aged 2
Margaret must have only just died before the census as there is a June qtr 1851 death for her in Holbeach
Ezekiel's birthyear varies quite a lot
1841 - b 1811 1851 b 1806 1861 b 1815 and we suddenly find a son also called Ezekiel and b 1848 but not on the 1851 1871 - b 1815 and re-married to Mary Pain Pattern in 1864 1874 - died aged 69 so b 1805
That re-marriage would be a good opportunity for finding his fathers name

29 Nov 1864 at Fleet Ezekiel HOTCHKIN (son of James) to Mary Pain PATTERN (dau of Robert)

George Hotchkin aged 3 b Sutton St James was in Holbeach Union Workhouse in 1851
Ezekiel was also b 1848 and married Alice Ford in 1866 in Holbeach so I wonder if he and George were twins
I had hoped to find Ezekiel with one of his grandparents in 1851 which may have given some info

I had the 1851, 1861 census and 1874 death of Ezekiel but couldn't find 1871 and missed the marriage to Mary Pain Pattern. Did they live in Sutton St Edmund in 1871?
I knew about George, also son of Ezekiel from another side of the family. I've assumed Ezekiel b 1847 was also in a workhouse in 1851 but can't find a record to support that.
Ezekiel b 1848 is my great-great grandfather. Also had a son Ezekiel b 1876 who immigrated to Canada.
So now I know the name of Ezekiel's (b 1805) father.
thanks so much. Susan

I just found the 1871 census of Ezekiel & Mary in Fleet, Lincolnshire. I guess I skipped it before because of the spouse name.
..great progress
thanks.

Daughters of Ezekiel and Margaret, both bap at Sutton (St Edmund) 23 July 1842 ... Emma and Sarah Ann.
Buried 3 and 7 August, aged 11 and 17 days
Margaret buried 2 March 1851 aged 36, also Martha 3 Sept 1851 (8 months), Mary Ann 23 Dec 1850 (14),
How do you know where Margaret was born as she didn't make it to the 1851 census

The 1841 census has Margaret born in the same country as census - St Mary Sutton, Lincolnshire.
