DRUMMOND in Comrie
« on: Thursday 05 November 09 03:50 UTC (UK) »

I was wondering if anyone else was researching the family of David DRUMMOND and Catherine McEWEN who married in Comrie March 1849.

The family were in Angus in the 1871 and 1881 census and then back in Comrie in 1891.

The children I have for David and Catherine are:
Christian
John married Margaret RODGER IN 1875 in Glasgow
Alexander married Emily BOYD in 1874 in Glasgow
James
David
Mary
William
Angus

Hoping someone else is connected to this family.

Hi Lois

I think this may be Christian/Christina's marriage:

PETER MCROSTIE and CHRISTINA DRUMMOND
Marriage: 28 DEC 1875 in Dundee, Angus

And a possible death entry:

Christian McROSTIE, 70, spouse Peter McROSTIE - Parents David DRUMMOND, Catherine McEWAN

http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/ANGUS/2005-06/1119605084

The family in 1881, indexed on the transcript as McKostie:

Peter McKostie 27, joiner b. Perth (County), Caputh
Christina McKostie 29, b. Comrie
Peter McKostie 4, b. Dundee
Catherine Mc Ewan McKostie 2, b. Dundee
David McKostie 3 Months, b. Liff
Peter Campbell 25, boarder

Address: Coupar Angus Road, Liff, Benvie and lnvergowrie, Angus

Possible for son David, b. 1861, in 1881 in Dundee:

David Drummond 20, boot riveter b. Comrie
Ann Drummond 19 b. Little Dunkeld, Perthshire
David Drummond 1 b. Dundee

Can't see the family at all in 1891 nor 1901 except for this possible entry for son David in 1901 (the marriage entry would let you confirm whether he is the son of David and Ann):

Jeanie Killin 65 b. Airdrie, Lanarkshire
Jeanie Killin 23 daughter b. Glasgow
James Strang 72 brother, tailor, b. Airdrie
David Drummond 21, son in law, plasterer b. Dundee
Agnes Drummond/ Killin 19, b. Glasgow
James Spears 23, visitor
Hugh Glass 21, visitor

Address: 51 Mcneil St, Hutchesontown, Glasgow Govan

Hi Monica

Thanks.....you have been busy

I'll check out all these new leads you have given me. Thanks for that link as well, that was good.

I've got deaths for the parents David and Catherine (who lived to 103) and son Angus.

I also have the marriages for Alexander and John. Didn't have any of the other information you have given me. You've given me  quite a bit to work with.

Greatly appreciated, Monica
