Was he William Patrick, of Kent
Or William Patrick Kent (Kent being surname)

May sound a silly question but I remember on another thread once we were searching for someone for ages under what we thought was the surname, and it turned out to be the place he/she was born!!!

Any more info known about him? Do you have his marriage cert to grandma?

Hi Liz the surname is Kent lol but i can appreciate how some would view it as poss the place lol
Hi Tati to be honest i aint got a clue as its a stab in the dark so to speak.
Are you saying that william had siblings while in dartford??
If so he was young to have em lol being as he would have been 11 months old in 1901 lol.

Sorry its my sense of humour i keep getting told off by my wife about it lol.

I can see only one William Patrick Kent registered around 1900:
William Patrick Kent, June quarter 1900, Dartford 2a 540
and I'm pretty sure he's the one I posted above. Did he marry your wife's grandmother? If so, the marriage certificate should confirm his father's name  Smiley

Did he marry someone else whose name you know, maybe?

Anyway checking FreeBMD I really can't see another William Patrick Kent.

I'm not sure it helps confirming his ancestry as the idea was to get hold of a certificate where he named his father Sad

I had a look at a map and the place where he was born seems very close to where he is buried too.

Frankly, I'm sure the boy found in 1901 is your man, but still trying to think of how we could prove it. Does anyone remember his exact birthday?

Sorry Tati no as this has only recently come to light ya see.
And it's one of those wonderful case's where things were kept quiet and there is unfortunately no-one left to ask.

I have the same case in my family - quite exciting it was, especially tracing any living family! Cheesy

William Patrick Kent seems to be a unique name - there's only one reference on FreeBMD and as it happens, he was precisely born in 1900 in Kent. Can't be a coincidence!

The CWGC gives his parents as Thomas & Charlotte http://www.cwgc.org so I would say, almost without doubt, that Tati has the correct family in 1901 with father using his middle name of Thomas.
