Shipston House, Shipston
« on: Friday 12 June 09 15:09 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I'm looking for information about Shipston House, Shipston on Stour in 1959. Can anyone tell me if it was a guest house or something else.
Thanks

Presume you have seen this site  http://www.marts100.com/Photo_Pages/historicshipston.htm

May be it is your site?

I can only suggest you get in touch with the local library and ask if they have a Year Book for that period as a bed and breakfast would almost certainly be listed.

I am sure you will find that SAhipston House was the work house and then became a hospital.

Looking at the pictures in the link by the other poster, the last photograpph shows the building with all the evergreen coverage - look at the workhouse websites and pick Shipston - I think you will find it is the same building.

The workhouse was not the workhouse by the time of the second world war - but was used as a hospital and the bombed people of coventry wre sent there - as of course it was the smae county then.
