Earlier today a message saying the databases weren't available appeared. Unfortunately the death records don't cover the year I need - 1863.
Today I was given the following info so am wondering if this link is appropriate
Mott Haven is a section of the South Bronx. At the time of the Civil War, Mott Haven was a village in the town of Morrisania, which was then in Westchester County. Morrisania was annexed to New York City in 1874.

Thank you Shelley. The search ceases I have the newspaper death notice which was published 6 months post death, in Australia and that will have to do.
