1861 Census - Church Fenton - COMPLETED WITH MANY THANKS TO PAM
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 21:46 UTC (UK) »

Could someone please check the 1861 census for a James Flynn aged 30 born Ireland.  Wife Bridget aged 26 born Ireland.  Daughter Mary A.  Aged 1 born Church Fenton, Yorkshire.  There are three other names listed but I am unable to decipher them - can anyone help please?  I think the last person listed living at the same address as James (Michael Huh aged 33 born Ireland) could be Bridget's brother.  On 1871 census, there is a Michael Huh? (looks like Dadlin!) living with the family down as Brother in Law.   If I can confirm his surname I am hoping I can then find marriage of James and Bridget.  On 1891 census they say they were born in Mayo Co Battina (but I think this might be Ballina).

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

With many thanks.

On the 1861 there is the actual image but at bottom of screen there is a printed version here is what it states

@ Church Fenton Yorkshire

after James Bridget and Mary Ann following
Cily  Mela  Visitor  48  Ag Lab   born Ireland
Patty Mela  "         21   "   "         "    "
Michael Daglain "  33   "    "         "    "

As Patty is an Ag Lab must stand for Patrick as for Cily  never heard of that but could be and Irish name

by the way James was also an Ag Lab

Hello Pam

Many thanks for your help on this one.  I have quite a few Irish ancestors but Cily is a new one on me too!

Hopefully, I can now do a bit more digging.

Thank you again.

With best wishes.
