Hello fellow searchers Any help tracking down more information..would be most appreciated! My GGG Grandfather Isaac Beattie emigrated to Australia via Scotland (where he married Martha McLeish on 25 March 1849 at the Bridgeton Free Church). I believe Isaac was born in Rathfriland C1825. Isaacs Parents were William and Eleanor (Ellen) Beatty. Any information or connections to them would be brilliant. According to the immigration records William Beatty was alive when Isaac and Martha came to Australia in 1852 Ellen Beatty died on 25 November 1873 in Rathfriland, Newry aged 86, with Isabella Reid at her side I would love to know about any siblings of Isaacs and any information on his parents William and Ellen Beatty.. I have 2 letters from Ellen to Isaac dated 7 October 1864 and 16 June 1865. Ellen was living in Lissize with her daughter Sarah Beatty. Isaac was sending Ellen and Sarah money. Ellen mentions the following people: Robert Carson Jane and children (Jane possibly Isaacs sister???) William Reid Isabella and child( Isabella possibly Isaacs sister? ) Ellen McCrum and husband John Campbell Mrs and family Aunt Jane Moore and family (had daughter Rachel who married Isaac Bready of Tamery) and son? James Moore who came to Australia. Thanks Caroline

Found the following in IGI (www.familysearch.org) which seems to tie in to the details you posted- Isaac BRADY m. Rachael Moore and had: 1. Dvid Lexander born 16 May 1866 Co.Down 2. Isaac born 7 May 1869 Co.Down
There are lots of Beatties in Co. Down listed in Ros Daves' website and you might want to go through and check all the other surnames you've listed as well- http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/Afrontpage.htm

Hi Mary.. Thanks so much for your post .. I was struggling with which church they may have come from, so you have given me a great lead. Can you tell me where/how you got this so I can try and track the rest of the family and hopefully sew them all together. Thanks

Hi aljepeka..
This is the information I have transcribed from the letters I have which matches the marriage info from Mary Derry in earlier posts..
"Aunt Jane Moore and family is well I have to inform you that her daughter Rachel was married on the 17th May to a man called Isaac Bready of Tamery he holds a piece of land and they are pretty comfortable..
So hopefully this will help cross match! I don't know the maiden name of my GGGG grandmother..My guess is its Moore..and Aunt Jane is her sister.. Looking forward to more info... Looking good so far! Cheers Caroline

Hi Aljepeka.. Wow..that is great... Definately need to dig some more..and need to think about it some more!! I really think they have to be all the same people from the map Lissize seemed pretty tiny..
The most "obvious" solution to me is that James Moore and Aunt Jane Moore were married.. Rachel Moore was a daughter (who married Isaac Brady/Bready) and James Moore (snr) was my GGGG Grandmother Ellen Beattys (younger??brother)..Ellen would have been 77 when the letters below were written.. but how to prove/disprove it all??!!
Moore was the middle names of 2 of my Isaacs children and the James they mention below was probably the brother of Rachel. HMMM
Did they usually say if the father was deceased on the wedding certificate? As Ellen always named the man first in her letters..and there was no reference to a man/husbandwhen she talked about aunt Jane Moore
I had another look at the letters..I know you are interested in the Brady side..but I want to put it all out there!
Lessize, 7th October 1864 Aunt Jane Moore and family is well, they feel very thankful to you for the information you have given them about James, they have written to him evry month since you sent his adress.
Lessize 16th June 1865 Aunt Jane Moore and family is well I have to inform you that her daughter Rachel was married on the 17th May to a man called Isaac Bready of Tamery he holds a piece of land and they are pretty comfortable. They got no letter from James by the last mail they got a newspaper they expect a letter from him by this first mail, John Campbell Mrs and family is well, I cannot say that we have anything more to write that would interest you, give our love to James Moore. William intends to write to him in a few days.
PS.. I did try to track James Moore..but its such a common name..the ones I did find couldn't have been him..shall try looking again cheers Caroline

Hi tabily Just to let you know your information is very intersting as my GGGrandfather is Isaac Brady of Rathfriland who married Rachael Moore I have a copy of the marriage certifacate and also a Photo of his son Isaac who married Elizabeth Ann Walker of Portadown. Ireland their son Robert was my Grandfather and his son Robert was my Father. I would be very interested in a copy of your letters as I am trying to make a family tree. I am sure your Jane is a sister of Rachael Moore.

Lessize, 7th October 1864
Dear Son and daughter,
Yours dated July 21st came to hand last month but was too late to reply by the mail leaving this last month, I have to thank you kindly for the post office order for the sum of 3pounds we got in your letter, we got it discounted without any trouble, I feel very thankful to you for your kindness, I am still able to move about my health is tolerable thanks to the giver of all good for his mercies to me. Sarah is well we are living together as formerly, and with the assistance you give us from time to time we get through pretty comfortable. Robert Carson Jane and children is well their family is getting up fast and is able the most of them to do for themselves. William is a good deal bigger than his father and is a good worker. William Reid Isabella and child is well. Ellen McCrum and husband is well, John Campbell Mrs and family is well. Aunt Jane Moore and family is well, they feel very thankful to you for the information you have given them about James, they have written to him evry month since you sent his adress, I almost forgot to say that Ellen McCrum gave birth to a little girl about a month ago it being her third child two little girls and one boy there was 9 years between her last two births, I was glad to find by yours that each of yours enjoyed good health, it is my prayer and desire that as you's and children grow in years you will also grow in grace. I know that a few more letters at most and then I must cease and part with all near and dear to me on earth, still one thing consoles me to meet with friends whom i hold dear, that we may behold his glory whose face was more marred than any mans and his visage more than the sons of me, when all earthly love will be eclypsed by love to him who first loved us and gave himself for us, for eye hathnot seen ear has not heard what God has prepared for them that love him
Sarah joins with me in best wishes to you and Mrs and children your mother Ellen Beatty adres Ellen Beatty Lessize care of Mrs Morrison Main Street Rathfriland Co Down Ireland
