Hello All,
I understand the Earl of Bedford owned Woburn for some time before actually residing there. Does anyone know when he moved from Bucks to Beds? Also, who ran Woburn when he was in the neighbouring county?

According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woburn_Abbey. John Russell, 1st Earl of Bedford was given the Woburn estate in 1547, but I can't see any reference that he ever lived there.

Francis, 4th Earl of Bedford was the first to live at Woburn.  In August 1625 he and his wife and eight children moved from their London house in the Strand to escape an epidemic of the plague.
