Hi,
Can anyone trace a marriage between John Andrewski & Harriet Tinsley c.1875?
According to the 1881 census John Andrewski (also Andresski, Androsky, Andriewski) was born in Poland c. 1848. His wife Harriet was born in London c. 1849.
They had at least four children -
John - Sept Qtr 1875, Holborn
Victor Leopold - Dec Qtr 1876, Holborn
Janet (Jannette) Phoebe - 3 Dec 1877, Paddington
Margaretta Maud - Dec Qtr 1880, Paddington
Harriet's maiden name (Tinsley) is taken from her daughter's birth certificate.
I have searched GRO indexes for the marriage without success and wondered if anyone had any access to marriage indexes from parish records that might give a clue.
John Andrewski was dead by 1891. Harriet had disappeared (unable to find death either) and her children had been boarded out to Suffolk from the Paddington workhouse.
I would really appreciate any help in trying to solve this long standing brick wall.

Hi, There is a Harriett Mary Tinsley birth reg June qtr 1849 Bethnal Green ?
IGI gives Harriet Tinsley born 6 May 1849 Bap. 26 August 1849 St.Matthew Bethnal Green parents John & Harriet.
There is a marriage for a John Tinsley & Harriott Benson Romford (Essex) Sept qtr 1848 ref 12/321

Hi Jennifer,
Many thanks for the information - it could well be her. Certainly the date fits her age as recorded in the 1881 census.
If only I could find her marriage to John Andrewski then I could see if the father's name matched! That is of course if they actually were married. John's surname having various spellings does not aid the search.
Your help is much appreciated.
