ANY help much appreciated - WATERS
« on: Monday 06 July 09 00:54 UTC (UK) »

My American friend is coming to England hoping to visit the grave or area of her Ancestor edward waters /  she has a will (Dont know how accurate).  but  stating some details .

edward waters born 30th nov 1589 in wimondley magna parish in hertfordshire , he was the son of william waters and alice cannon . they were married 14th oct 1582 in william parish hertfordshire

according to details my friend has ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,  edmund left england on Seaventure /ship june 1620  / shipwrecked off the coast of bermuda,,,,,,, but got to virginia usa in1610.   he was married to grace o'neil. ( who they think came over to america ( from england ?? ) in 1620.
she thinks he was 35 she about 17. they had 2 children
edward returned to england and died there , buried 22nd august 1630 at Great Hormeade hertfordshire,  the will was proved by his brother John waters of midleham  yorkshire england in sept 1630. left all his lands in virginia to his son william and daughter margaret,

sooooooooooooo  thats what we have ,,what we dont have is any knowledge of hertfordshire and area.  looking at different sites im not even sure if the parishes are William .or Willan ?
is there a place called wimondley magna parish ??   are there any parish records to see that would tell us if edward is buried at great hormeade ?  any help from any one who has any knowledge of the area, or could put us in the right direction to search for details would be very grateful , for any help however small .   my friend comes over to england in a few weeks , hopefully we will visit the area the first week in august , would be great if we could locate some things for her to photograph in the right area to take back to the family ,

It would be well worth your friend visiting the Hertfordshire Archives (HALS) at Hertford before wearing out any shoe leather!  They hold all surviving Herts parish records.
