have you tried the Irish Civil Index ? familysearch have an online version at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

see hints on searching this in the Ireland resources section of this site.

If you find a promising match you can order a research cert by post from the GRO - www.groireland.ie

Perhaps you might have some more details that might help us assist you. Any idea of mother's name?
"i think hias father was james nally " where does they information come from?
"patrick obviously moved to scotland can anyone giveme more information plese?" Patrick might have moved to Scotland but this wouldn't be obvious to any of us- when is the 1st time you've found a record of Patrick in Scotland?
Civil registration of Irish births is online (free) but without more details it will be difficult to know if and when you've found the right record.

patrick married  Agnes Graham Christie Duncan (where abouts i dont know) but she was scottish and was born 0n 29 Feb 1896 in Union Terrace,Forgan, East Newport Fife. she died in 1976
in Glenyard High Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire.

patrick also died in scotland
28 Mar 1949 also in bonnybridge scotland, sothis is why i know he cme to scotland as he was born in  Baronston Ballynacargy, County West Meath, Ireland. a relative told me his father was called james nally and his mothers name was anna(im yet to confirm this.

does this help because this is all ive got Huh

I mentioned that problem earlier-
Civil registration of Irish births is online (free) but without more details it will be difficult to know if and when you've found the right record.

What you 1st need to do is check all possible Scottish records (marriage? death?) to get any details there.
As you haven't answered any of my earlier questions it's difficult to advise where you could search next.
