Without knowing what you’re looking for it’s impossible to answer your question. Maybe if you gave a name and a date someone here could help.

Before you go to any pay sites try the free ones first.

BMD’s at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

1911 Census at
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

IFHF (free to search, pay per view)
http://dublinnorth.brsgenealogy.com/map.php?PHPSESSID=d1d585f391965e7861837a8a87f9bedb

And, in my opinion, you are already on the best Irish Genealogy site – RootsChat.

Good luck with your search.

As Dara says, it's difficult to give any advise without knowing area or period you are searching for so if you could tell us the county (or even more exact location if you have one) and dates we'll be able to advise.

You should also check out the topics on Rootschat under Ireland Resources and under the particular county boards.

There's also another fantastic free site: www.familysearch.org

The LDS site I mentioned will not have much for 1900s Irish records.
The 1911 census is probably the first place you need to look. Also civil registrations might be helpful.
Take a look at the Kilkenny board:

Unfortunately the 1911 Census for Kilkenny is not on the National Archive site yet but it is due to be added later this year.

Would this post get a better response if it was on the Kilkenny Board?
