hello, i am wondering if any one could help me please? im trying to find the death records of george richard swatman and sarah ann swatman(nee preston) i can find the births, and marriage, but nothing on the deaths, they were born in 1877 and 1878, also any info on their children would be a great help as i am at a dead end!  Huh thank you in advance

Hi

If they were only born in the late 1870's - they may only have died in the 1930's - 1940's

If you are only looking on freebmd then transcriptions may not cover the period they died - see link below

You will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Unless you can narrow down the years at all - you will find it is a very time consuming process as it entails downloading the image for every quarter of each year searched and checking through it for an entry

For example - a 10yr search would need 40 images downloading and searching

They married in 1900 so have you checked the 1911 census for details of any children up to that date?

From the September qtr of 1911 - mothers maiden names were shown alongside the birth entries on the GRO index.

If you check 1917 - you will find twins born in the December qtr

Births December qtr 1917 
 
Arthur Swatman mothers maiden name Preston  Wolverhampton  6b 892   
Ethel D Swatman mmn   Preston  Wolverhampton  6b 892

hello, thank you for the reply, i am on ancestry, so i will try again on there, and also will try the 1911 census, i had found the twins but that is as far as i have got..but will keep trying, thank you for your help xx

Hi

Taking a quick look on the 1911 index there is a George Richard Swatman aged 9 (1902) living in Wolverhampton Staffs and also a George Richard Swatman b 1877 living in the same area - father and son I reckon

Other possible children are Albert aged 6 Charles aged 7 Clifford 8mths
