Hello all. Visiting my brother-in-law recently, he showed an interest in finding out something of his grandfather, of whom his sole knowledge was his surname. He is currently trying to contact other relatives in the hope of finding more information, but I explained to him it may well come down to obtaining a copy of his father's birth certificate. This will be no problem as we have the BMD reference Reggie Edgar Phillips Jan quarter 1919 Maidstone 2a 1145 (mother's maiden name Halford). His obituary gives him as born in Maidstone. Whilst waiting to hear further from my brother-in-law, perhaps someone who has access to the Maidstone church registers can look up his baptism (assuming it occurred) for the necessary information. As I say, it will probably come down to obtaining that birth certificate. Many thanks, Scobie
