Marriage in Walmer
« on: Sunday 14 June 09 12:34 UTC (UK) »

Hi there,
Iam trying to find a marriage of John Hall to Lucy ?? in Walmer probably around 1825.
 Their children from IGI are
Henry Edward b1827 Walmer
Alice Ann 1828 Walmer
Edward John 1830 Walmer
Elizabeth 1831 Walmer
Ann Freeman 1833 Walmer
William 1834 Walmer
I cannot find any of the family in 1841 Census and by 1851 they are married or have left home.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Kind regards
Mariac

Hi Mariac   Smiley

Not found the marriage,  however  - all the children are in the Eastry Union Workhouse in 1841   Lips Sealed

HO107.  P. 466/7  Fol. 51  Pg. 12

They are indexed as Holl on Ancestry but Hall on FMP  -  it is them - second names are included   Smiley

Hi there Mum44,
That is fantastic. Thank you Cheesy
I didnt think of Holl.

Which certificate would I be better off getting of the children to find out the maiden name of their mother Lucy....Marriage or Death Huh

Is it possible to get any information anywhere on the children in the WorkHouse? Why they were there, their parents etc?.
Kind Regards

Hi

Mother doesn't appear on the marriage certificates  Undecided    If she appears on death certs  -  which is unlikely -  it would only be as informant and then using her married name.

The only certificate which shows the mother's maiden name is the birth certificate, and none of them were born under civil registration  ( 1837)

Some Workhouse records do survive - I really don't know about those in Kent; you could contact the County Records Office in Maidstone  Undecided
