James Oliver Dinsdale 1832
« on: Sunday 28 June 09 20:58 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for James Oliver Dinsdale bn 1832 in Darlington.  I can find him in 1851 in east Layton with his brother, then in 1855 he marries Jane Allinson.  She has three children Elizabeth, Hannah and Francis, but then I cant find him again until 1901 in Melsonby, Yorkshire as an uncle.

I know there are doubts about Jane Allinsons children (all named Dinsdale) but I just dont know where James dissappears to!

thanks for any help you can give.

Are you sure he marries Jane Allinson?

1901 says he is single (RG13 4613 38 12)

Marriage q/e Sept 1855 to Jane Allinson, Teesdale District.

Is this Jane in 1861 with daughter Elizabeth occupation housekeeper and tailor's wife (head of household William Pears)

Jane , housekeeper married age 25 Middleton in Teesdale
Elizabeth daughter age 3 Middleton in Teesale

Just checking to see if this is the right Jane then we know James wasn't with her at that time at least.

Shirl

Just checked for this Jane in 1891, the one above is still a housekeeper for William Pears, 2 sons with her William & Francis and it says she was a widow. Maybe not the right Jane afterall.

Interesting on thr image of that 1861 Jane that Shirl has found, the daughter Elizabeth has the name "Oliver" inserted, so it reads Elizabeth Oliver Dinsdale ....

makes me think maybe this is her!

It looks to me that she was maybe deserted and lived with William Pears snr and had a son with him 1875 William jnr.
In 1901 she is listed as his Mother Wink+

1891 she is housekeeper still with William Pears snr. Son Francis Dinsdale 27 and William 16 is a Dindale too.
Transcribed though as sons of William Pears on image definitely Dinsdales.

I havent found 1871/1881 yet

I think you maybe right

1871 Pontop East, Kyo, Durham - on image all shown as Pears

William Pears head, married 31, coal miner Northumberland
Jane Pears wife 32, Middleton in Teesdale
Elizabeth Pears daughter, 14 Middleton in Teesdale
Hannah Pears daughter 10, Blanchland Northumberland
Francis Pears son, 7 Durham Castle Side
Mary Pears daughter, 6 Durham Castle Side
Hannah Pears, niece, 1, Durham Leadgate

Wonder if we can find James Dinsdale anywhere now, will have a look at the 1881 for Jane first

And Jane PEARS in 1881 Templetown, Conside cum Knitsley

William Pears head, married, 41, coalminer Hexham
Jane wife married, 45, Middleton Durham
Hannah daughter 19, Blanchland Northumberland
Francis son, 17, colliery shifter, Castle Side Durham
Mary J. daughter, 16, Castle Side Durham
Anne daughter 8, Consett, Durham
William R son, 6, Consett Durham

Now where is that elusive James Dinsdale! Found his brother Thomas in Stapleton in 1841 no James though. James' father accordiing to the baptism record was a hawker so they could be anywhere!

thanks for all the investigations - this is her.  Jane seems to change her name back and forward - Ive not been able to find a marriage to William Pears, but the person Im actually lloking for is their son William Robert.  I cant find a marriage for him either, but I have a daughter for him in 1902 called Elizabeth.  Still trying to find her mother!

All help is much appreciated!
